Online Math Links

All of the following links were active when posted. If you find a broken link please email me. Math Intervention and Remediation can be boring for students, and can feel like 'punshiment' sometimes. The links that I have included below are like games in many ways, but are in fact learning tools to help your student understand a topic, and to reinforce, and have fun. Math doesn't have to be rote and memory. Math can be a blast!

MATH TOOLS:

The idea behind the site is to offer mathematics as well as some fun bits, and to combine the two wherever possible. The main content of the site is aimed at basic math skills. However you will find some more complex stuff, and some easier bits. Hopefully there should be something for everybody.

Student registration is required. Email Here to get setup with this great program. Choices are Fundamentals of Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra Readiness and CAHSEE Prep. This product can be used as a stand alone product or as an addition to another curriculum. Our school has a subscription with I CAN LEARN. Online drill through games for kindergarten – 5th grade language arts, math, and science
Free to MVCS students until the end of the 2008/2009 school year

This is great FREE place to play with virtual maniupluatives (no clean up afterward!). The options are broken down by strand and grade level. Also you can register in the Free Teacher section and make your own lessons out of the resources they have. There are lesson plans already done as well as the option to pick and choose questions to put in your own mini class you can hold online or print out for your students. Truly this is a great place!

This is the online presence for McDougal Littell's Texts. There are literally any number of options you can choose. For the math courses, choose the options of either High School or Middle School, your state, and then 'Go'. After your first visit the text you choose to work with at the screen after 'Go' will popup automatically for you when you log in to Classzone. I recommend the Home Tutor, Powerpoint presentations, the e-Workbook and the Animations very highly. There is also a section to prepare for standardized tests. If you are prompted for a login please use the following:

HotChalk's LessonPlansPage.com is a collection of over 3,000 lesson plans from Preschool through High School and beyond, that were developed by Kyle Yamnitz, students and faculty at The University of Missouri, and more recently by the users of this website. Launched in October of 1996, The Lesson Plans Page was developed to assist educators of all types.  Elementary school teachers get lesson plans that are ready to use in their classrooms.  College students get great example lesson plans or ideas to base their own lesson plans on.  Home schoolers can get lesson plans to use at home and parents can get ideas for educational activities to use with their children.

  • RightStart Mathematics
  • Activities for Learning, Inc. is the company bringing the AL Abacus to the children of the world. From her Montessori classroom, Dr. Joan A. Cotter created the unique double-sided AL Abacus. The Activities for the AL Abacus was written as she explored the wonderful uses for the new manipulative. Later while working on her doctorate in mathematics education, she wrote the first lessons using the AL Abacus, which became the RightStart Mathematics curriculum available today.
