Located in southern Siskiyou County, Mount Shasta Learning Center provides standards-based, small group instruction to transitional kindergarten through grade 8 students on Mondays through Thursdays. This center is strongly supported by a dynamic parent cooperative, and their philosophy is to support the whole child in an academic setting. With parent involvement and support the center is able to have small groups with multiple instructors who specialize in their subject matter. High school and middle school students receive regular instruction and tutoring in math and English, as well as weekly cooking classes. The teachers focus on providing high-quality curriculum and instructional methods geared towards college preparation in an independent study setting.
This learning center also offers alternatives for the older students who have been struggling academically and socially. The Center emphasizes helping these at-risk high school students navigate through the graduation requirements with the greatest possible personal and academic success. All students are provided with appropriate learning opportunities and counseling support to help them achieve their goals.
