Bio:

Humboldt County is my first home, although not my only home over my lifetime.  As a child I attended many different schools in California, Mississippi to Idaho.  My current stay in Humboldt County began when I was in 6th grade.  I am a graduate of Eureka High School, College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University.  I hold a BA in Mathematics and a California Teaching Credential.  And that's the bare bones of my formal education.  I have a son, Dana, who is a Professional Motocross Athlete, a daughter, Carli, who is a Kinesiology graduate from HSU, and two dogs, Lexie and Havoc, who are both incredibly entertaining.  I like water sports, snow skiing (yes skis not a board), ATV riding, old movies, photography and experimental cooking.  My husband and I co-own Quality Body Works in Eureka.  My current life has two major loves other than serious fun and education: Photography and Competitive Cheerleading.  I have worked as a professional photographer since 1985, with interests as varied as large format black and white landscapes, portraiture, digital photography, and photojournalism for major magazines like People, DirtWheels and ATV Sport.  I also have worked as a photojournalist for Clear Channel Entertainment, Disney and ESPN Wild World of Sports.  I have been involved in the making of several popular video games as well such as ATV Offroad Fury 2 & 3, MX vs ATV Unleashed 1 & 2, and ATV Quad Power Racing 1 & 2.  As a Competitive Cheerleading coach, I have worked with over 1500 cheerleaders both female and male since 1986 and have helped my teams earn 16 National Championships, 2 International Championships and 2 State Championships, as well as hundreds of local and regional championships.  My gym, Humboldt Cheer Company, is beginning it's 11th year of existence.  And now, I am excited to once again hold some chalk and share the wonderful, really, wonderful world of Mathematics with Mattole Valley Charter School students and teachers.
