Bio:

Although my husband and I grew up less than five miles apart, we did not meet until college.  The really interesting aspect was he was a student at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and I was a student at College of the Redwoods!  We dated long distance for two years and then were married after he graduated with a bachelors and I with an associate degree.  During the next ten years, this wonderful man and I were blessed with three children! 

School has always seemed special to me.  As a five-year-old kindergartner, the classroom was magic! Becoming a teacher was always a goal, but not until our children were successfully ‘launched’ in life. When the youngest entered first grade, I reentered as a junior, graduated, became credentialed, and substituted until our baby was a high school junior.  I subbed every grade level, preschool special education through high school.  An unexpected bonus was that it uniquely prepared me to become a multiple grade charter school teacher!  I feel comfortable with every grade level.

Hobbies include: spending time with my family; traveling with my husband; being a doggy mom to our two great dogs; reading (mostly biographies and other nonfiction, although historical fiction if a favorite); listening to music that ranges from Louis Armstrong to Manheim Steamroller to movie themes and even a bit of Lynyrd Skynyrd;  cooking healthy foods and experimenting with new cheesecake flavors(yes, cheesecake can be semi-healthy when the fat is cut) and writing kid-friendly lesson plans for the Dear America book and the American Girl book series.  So far students have enjoyed these when assigned.  I love working with the MVCS staff and all the families I have met through the school.  I thank God for the life He is allowing me to live!
