Bio:

I was born in the Azores and came to US when I was ten. My family settled in Arcata where I attended Arcata High and then HSU. I married my college sweetheart and we have two adult children.
After receiving my California Teaching Credential, I taught for five years at St. Mary's Catholic School for five years. I stayed home nine years with our two children. I returned to work when our youngest child entered Kindergarten. I worked for the McKinleyville School District as a teacher aid for four years.
I quit my job and moved to the Mattole Valley with my family in 1991. My husband went to work teaching at the Honeydew Elementary School. I worked as an aid at the Honeydew School with Chapter One Children. I transferred to Mattole Triple Junction High School and worked as an aide for Special Education Students.   When the charter school opened, I was encouraged to work for MVCS. I went to the training and began working for the charter in October 1998. That's where I have been working ever since.  I love this job. I really enjoy working with the students and their families.
