Bio:

   In 1987, I was playing with my two young boys in our rented house located on an old homestead in a rural part of Southern California .  As I played and observed how these two amazing individuals learned and interacted, I realized that I wanted to be their teacher… that no one could know or care for them as I could.  The task seemed overwhelming and scary, however.  I needed help.

            I sought help and guidance in the Teacher Credentialing Program at Cal State , San Bernardino .  Shortly after completing the program, my family moved to Lewiston , in Trinity County , where I got a job at Lewiston Elementary School as a public school teacher.  During my years there, my children, including a new daughter, became my students, along with scores of other children. 

            The years flew by and as my children grew up, I became frustrated by the constraints of the public education institution.  I longed for the challenge of teaching individuals again; the creative aspect of teaching had become lost in the rigors of pacing schedules and standardized tests. 

            Recently, I have become more involved in the Home School concept in our community and am currently on board with Mattole Valley Charter School with the hope of connecting other families with the joy of learning and to help children become productive citizens in our community, reaching their potential both academically and socially.  I look forward to working with families to make education meaningful and relevant.
